Groen conquering the world`s kitchens from Jackson

The folks at Groen liked Mississippi so much they moved their international headquarters here.

Groen, a division of Dover Corporation, moved one of their operations to Jackson in 1984 when the company was expanding its food service equipment line. In 1989, the plant was expanded with a 46,000-square-foot addition to accommodate a new product line.

In 1996, when operations company-wide were not working as well as planned, management decided to consolidate. Even though another site in Elk Grove, Ill., continues to crank out custom commercial cookery, 85% of all manufacturing is generated from the plant in Jackson, said Clay Thames, marketing services manager.
