A number of national magazines have run articles this year saying that the women`s liberation movement is dead. In Mississippi, the question might be if it ever existed.

It has been 18 years years since a woman held a statewide political office, and the state has never had a female governor or sent a woman to the U.S. Congress. The state has the lowest percentage of elected women officials of any state in the country.
