Metro hospitals give back during holidays

About 7,500 hospital employees in the Jackson area walk, run and bowl for their communities. They donate food, toys and cash. Many give blood. And some adopt schools. You might say they have big hearts.

One metro hospital offers employees payroll deductions and lets them choose their causes. Another hospital divides it into separate, predetermined accounts. Other hospitals have established committees to cull requests – the highest was 122 – from worthy causes to determine where the money is funneled. And some hospitals take cash, checks or credit cards.
