Mississippi Gulf Coast designated a hot building market

OCEAN SPRINGS — Being named one of the top 10 markets in the country for home building by Builder magazine is one more indication of how rapidly the Mississippi Gulf Coast is growing. But Coast home builders say while the designation is exciting, it is overwhelming at the same time.

The top market designation may bring the Coast to the attention of large national home building companies that could finance the type of large subdivision projects needed to ease the Coast housing crunch. But Coast home builders said unless the large national companies bring labor with them, their entry into the marketplace would strain an already tight labor market.
