Tritel Inc., a privately-held Jackson company involved in the cellular business since the 1980s, will launch a digital wireless network as an affiliate of AT&T Wireless Services.
Tritel will build a 1,900-MHz personal communication service (PCS) digital network throughout Mississippi and Alabama and in parts of
Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana and Georgia covering a contiguous geographical area of approximately 14 million people.
“We are excited about building a world-class telecommunications company,” said Tritel CEO William M. Mounger II.
