Record crowd expected for Business EXPO 2001for Business EXPO 2001

JACKSON — Mississippi Business EXPO 2001 should see a record number of attendees, according to Linda Jacobs, who is coordinating the state’s leading business-to-business trade show for the Mississippi Business Journal.

“Last year, we sold a record number of exhibitor booths and had the biggest crowd in EXPO history,” said Jacobs, the MBJ’s special events director. “We should have even more exhibitors this year, and I anticipate EXPO 2001 surpassing last year’s event. This should be the best EXPO ever.”

This year marks the 18th annual edition of EXPO, whose sponsors include Trustmark National Bank, Newschannel 12, SunCom, Dennery’s, Sign-A-Rama, Metrocenter and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Mississippi. In addition to more than 150 booths representing a full-range of companies, EXPO 2001 offers a number of special mini-events:

Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2001

• The Trustmark National Bank and Newschannel 12 Salute to Business and Industry Kick-off Breakfast will honor this year’s top companies in the metro area. Edmund L. Brunini Jr. of Brunini, Grantham, Grower & Hewes PLLC will give the keynote address. The breakfast begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Trademart.

• Mississippi’s leading young professionals will be recognized at the SunCom Top 40 Under 40 luncheon. It begins at 11:30 a.m. The Honorable William Winter, who served as Mississippi’s governor from 1980-1984, will give this year’s address.

• From 5 p.m.-7 p.m., the MetroJackson Chamber of Commerce will host a jazzy Business After Hours with food from more than 20 Jackson-area restaurants.

Thursday, Jan. 11, 2001

• A reunion luncheon for Mississippi’s 50 Leading Business Women classes will be held at 11:30 a.m. The Business Woman of the Year Award will also be presented. Mississippi native and national recording artist Dorothy Moore will perform. This event is sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Mississippi.

Networking opportunities abound

Attendees can also enjoy the Integrated Network Solutions and BellSouth Mobility CyberCafe and seminars from The Delkan Group and KLA Consulting during the two-days of EXPO 2001.

EXPO 2001 hours are 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Jan. 10 and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Jan 11. All events will be held at the Mississippi Trademart in Jackson.
