It remains to be seen how effective Gov. Ronnie Musgrove’s replacement for executive director of the Mississippi Development Authority will be, but many in the state’s business community are looking forward to a revitalization of the economic development agency under the leadership of Bob Rohrlack.
Despite the governor’s rather heavy-handed ouster of J.C. Burns from the MDA leadership post, the criticism of what many see as Musgrove’s micro-management and the politics of the situation, the future of MDA remains bright.
Rohrlack’s credentials are impressive. His background should aid him in the day-to-day management of MDA, as well as insure a quick and smooth transition into the position.
We were also impressed by his commitment to existing business and industry, expressed during the Jackson press conference where his appointment was announced.
The economic challenges our state faces are daunting, but with skilled leadership, hard work and vision, we’re confident that business here will flourish in the coming years.
Here’s hoping that MDA, and it’s new executive director, can play a role and help move Mississippi forward.
