ACBL moving headquarters, bringing jobs

HORN LAKE — The American Contract Bridge League (ACBL), one of the largest bridge organizations in the world, is relocating its headquarters from Memphis to Horn Lake. The move represents a $3-million investment by the organization and will bring approximately 70 jobs to the area.

Boasting more than 160,000 members living in the United States, Mexico, Canada and Bermuda, the ACBL determines North American rules of bridge, assists with the formulation of international rules and sanctions club and tournament games. The not-for-profit organization, which was founded in 1937, also encourages participation in the game of bridge at all levels of proficiency and experience.

“We are extremely excited about our relocation to Horn Lake, DeSoto County and the great State of Mississippi,” said Jay Baum, ACBL CEO. “The opportunities here to better serve our members and showcase our history will help us continue our growth for many years.”

The Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) provided Momentum Mississippi incentives to assist the ACBL with its move from Memphis to Horn Lake.

“This announcement reflects the diversity of our efforts to create jobs in Mississippi,” said Gray Swoope, executive director of the MDA. “This project was made possible by the Momentum Mississippi incentives passed in 2005 that provide tools to attract businesses to the state from several sectors of the economy.”
