Labs getting ARRA funds

STONEVILLE and STARKVILLE — The U.S. Department of Agriculture is distributing $176 million in ARRA funding to upgrade laboratory buildings and support facilities at research locations across the country.

The ARRA funds will be used to improve the safety and health aspects of the laboratories, enhance the energy efficiency, and reduce the cost of operation and maintenance.

In Mississippi, the Jamie Whitten Delta States Research Center at Stoneville will receive $26 million, and the Poultry Research Unit & Crop Science Research Laboratory at Mississippi State University is to get $1.8 million.
