Charles Williford, P.E., P.S., and Richard Sheffield, P.E., have joined Thompson Engineering.
Williford joined Thompson Engineering as a senior engineer in the firm’s Jackson office. Williford has more than 31 years of the areas of civil and environmental engineering and project management experience. Prior to joining Thompson Engineering, Williford was a partner in the firm of Williford, Gearhart, & Knight. Williford. He received his B.S. in civil engineering and his M.S. degree in environmental engineering from Mississippi State University.
He has been involved in all aspects of project management from inception to completion, including business development, client management, project management, design, construction and quality assurance. Having served as city engineer, zoning administrator and county engineer for two high-growth areas in the state, he has been responsible for both the design and construction of all types of public works projects, as well as road and bridge improvement programs.
Sheffield has joined Thompson Engineering as a senior geotechnical engineer for the Jackson, office. Sheffield has more than 28 years of experience in the areas of civil engineering and project management. Sheffield joined Thompson Engineering following a 28-year career with the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT). He received is B.S. in civil engineering from Mississippi State University.
He has extensive experience with geotechnical design for structural foundations, transportation research projects, materials specifications and testing, contract administration of construction projects and pavement design. He brings to Thompson Engineering his skills as a manager and administrator with a vast knowledge of state transportation activities and the local public agency (LPA) process.
