The House Republican Conference has confirmed U.S. Rep. Gregg Harper (R-Miss.) to serve as the only freshman on the House Committee on Standards of Official Conduct. Selected by Republican Leader John Boehner of Ohio, this leadership appointment marks Harper’s fifth committee assignment for the 111th Congress. The Committee on Standards of Official Conduct is the only House panel with equal party representation, comprised of five Democratic and five Republican members. Chaired by Democrat Zoe Lofgren of California, the oversight committee has jurisdiction over all matters pertaining to the Code of Official Conduct of Members of the U.S. House of Representatives and federal employees. All members, delegates, resident commissioners, officers and employees of the U.S. House of Representatives are held accountable by the principles set within this code.
