Winstead reappointed to commission

Gov. Haley Barbour has reappointed Jack Winstead of Newton County to the Commission on Environmental Quality. Winstead has served on the commission since 2004, and will serve a seven-year term ending June 30, 2016.  A cattle and timber farmer, he retired as deputy state conservationist of the Natural Resources Conservation Service after 37 years of service. He is board president of the Pearl River Valley Water Supply District, a member of the Newton County Soil and Water Conservation District and vice chairman of East Central Community College’s board of trustees.  In previous positions, Winstead has served as chairman of the Mississippi Soil and Water Conservation Commission, president of the Mississippi Association of Conservation Districts and national board member for the National Association of Conservation Districts.
