JACKSON — Five small communities in Mississippi are receiving federal grants and loans to improve their water systems.
U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced the funding, which is coming from the federal stimulus package.
Beaver Dam Water Association Inc. in Heidelberg is receiving a nearly $1.7 million grant and a $607,000 loan.
The Kossuth Water Association Inc. is receiving a $1.7 million grant and $2.3 million loan.
The Town of Lake is receiving a $553,856 grant and a $78,000 loan.
The Soso Community Water System Inc. is receiving a $455,000 grant and a $260,000 loan.
South Holmes Water Association Inc. is receiving a $109,000 grant and a $41,000 loan.
