2 Miss. Delta colleges see enrollment decline

JACKSON —  Two of Mississippi’s public universities saw their fall enrollment decline this year.

The state College Board released preliminary enrollment figures on Friday that show systemwide enrollment is up about 3.5 percent. But that’s not the case at two colleges in the Delta.

Mississippi Valley State University’s enrollment dropped by nearly 4 percent compared with last fall. Delta State University’s enrollment decreased by nearly 1 percent.

Jackson State had the largest percentage increase of the state’s eight universities. JSU’s enrollment grew by nearly 5 percent.
