Colleges get funds for law enforcement programs

JACKSON — The Department of Justice has provided $11 million to Mississippi universities for programs on law enforcement and public safety in Mississippi.

The University of Southern Mississippi, Mississippi State University, the University of Mississippi and Jackson State University will share $10.6 million for training programs ranging from cyber crime to forensics.

Sen. Thad Cochran, R-Miss., says the Jackson Medical Mall Foundation will receive $400,000 for an after-school program for at-risk youth in Hinds County.
