NEW ORLEANS — Entergy Corporation has awarded a follow-on contract to Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) to continue providing comprehensive information technology (IT) services through 2015. The single award, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract has a six-year period of performance and a total value of more than $219 million.
Work will be performed primarily in New Orleans, La., Little Rock, Ark., and Houston, Texas.
“We are pleased with the strong relationship we have built with SAIC over the last decade,” said Jill Israel, Entergy’s chief information officer. “SAIC has established themselves as a valuable provider of quality IT services.”
SAIC has supported Entergy since 1999, providing recovery support during hurricanes Katrina and Rita and other major storms, helping the company develop two new data centers and enhancing overall IT service delivery.
In a separate item, two Entergy projects were honored in a group of three finalists for Power Engineering Magazine’s 2009 Nuclear Project of the Year.
“To receive honorable mention as one of the top three nuclear projects globally is a tribute to the innovative and dedicated work of our people. I am very proud of our teams and the outstanding results achieved,” Donna Jacobs, senior vice president at Entergy Nuclear.
The finalists were selected in four major categories: Best Nuclear Project, Best Renewable/Sustainable Project, Best Coal-fired Project, and Best Gas-fired Project. In the nuclear energy category, the three finalists honored were Entergy’s River Bend wireless project in Louisiana, Entergy’s SmartSignal at Waterford 3 project in Louisiana and the winner, Pacific Gas & Electric’s Diablo Canyon Unit 1 steam generator replacement project in California.
