NEW ORLEANS — Power provider Entergy Corp. says that it expects fourth-quarter earnings to jump sharply on improved utility performance and easily exceed analysts’ forecasts.
The company also reaffirmed its profit outlook for 2010.
New Orleans-based Entergy said it expects to report earnings of about $1.63 per share, compared with fourth-quarter earnings in 2008 of 89 cents per share. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters, on average, have forecast per-share earnings of $1.40 for the latest quarter.
Entergy said it still expected 2010 profit to range between $6.15 and $6.95 per share. Thomson Reuters-surveyed analysts have forecast annual profit of $6.69 per share.
Entergy provides power through its subsidiary to Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas and Texas.
