GREENWOOD — A Greenwood legislator is sponsoring legislation that would require owners of all-terrain vehicle to pay a registration fee and have information listed on a public log, according to the Associated Press.
Rep. Willie J. Perkins Sr., a Greenwood Democrat, says his constituents have complained about people on ATVs using county roads and sometimes causing disturbances. Perkins says there is no way of identifying those riders.
The bill has come critics, including Lamar County Sheriff Danny Rigel. Rigel says he’ll uphold the law if it’s passed but he doesn’t see a need for it.
