Louisiana's casinos see revenue fall

BATON ROUGE, La. — Continuing to follow a recent national trend, Louisiana’s state-licensed casinos saw their winnings from gamblers fall 15.8 percent last month from the previous December.

The 13 riverboats, Harrah’s New Orleans Casino and the four race track casinos won $192.4 million in December, down from $222.8 million in December 2008.

State police report the riverboat casinos won $131.3 million in December, down from $152.7 million in December 2008. The New Orleans land casino took in $31 million, down from $34.9 million. The four race track casinos won $30.1 million, a drop from $35.2 million.

Still, December showed some improvement from November, when Louisiana casinos won $179 million.
