City reports dwindling tax collections

CORINTH — The City of Corinth’s sales tax revenue declined for a sixth consecutive month while the tourism tax enjoyed an increase during the latest reported month.
Corinth’s sales tax diversion deposited around Jan. 15 totaled just over $445,000, about $24,000 less than the same month a year earlier, a decrease of 5 percent.
The latest deposit reflects sales made in November.
For the fiscal year to date, Corinth’s sales tax proceeds total $1.7 million, a 5 percent decrease from the same point a year earlier.
The Daily Corinthian reports the tourism tax generated over $78,000, a 5 percent gain in year-to-year comparisons.
