Ex-NASA officer returning to court

GULFPORT — A May trial date has been set for a former high-ranking NASA official facing nine federal charges accusing him of steering a $600,000 contract to Mississippi State University.

Courtney A. Stadd, who consulting firm clients included the college, has pleaded not guilty.

He is already been convicted of breaking ethics laws by steering a different contract for almost $10 million to the university. Stadd was sentenced in November to three years probation.

The 55-year-old Stadd was NASA’s chief of staff and White House liaison from 2001 to 2003.

The trial is set for May 10 in U.S. District Court in Gulfport.
