JACKSON — Mississippi has already put up 100 roadside markers to highlight its blues music heritage.
Now, officials are considering a broader approach to cultural and historical tourism.
A bill that passed the House 117-0 Feb. 9 would authorize the Mississippi Development Authority to create a Mississippi heritage, history and culture trail.
Lawmakers say the trail could have signs highlighting a wide variety of important developments or events, including Hurricane Katrina.
The bill moves to the Senate for more work. A separate funding bill would have to be passed by both chambers.
The bill is H.B.727.
