State transfers land to city
JACKSON — Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann has transferred 50 parcels of land valued at approximately $373,480 to the City of Jackson.
“Getting lands back on city and county tax rolls is always in the best interest of the State,” said Hosemann. “We actively pursue getting tax forfeited lands back to local or private ownership, which is in the best interest of our citizens.”
“We appreciate Secretary of State Hosemann for his commitment to Jackson,” said Mayor Harvey Johnson Jr. “Not only will these parcels of land be developed into housing opportunities for the citizens of Jackson, but they will be placed back on the tax rolls of our city. This is certainly a win-win situation for Jackson.”
The transferred parcels are located in the Bon Air subdivision, Farish Street Historical District and in West Jackson and represent lands abandoned by their owners and forfeited to the State of Mississippi.
