Deer-hunting bill dies in Legislature

JACKSON — A Senate committee has killed a bill that would have revised the dates for deer hunting seasons in Mississippi.
The Senate Wildlife and Fisheries Committee met March 2 and chose not to vote on the bill. That killed it because March 2 was the deadline for House and Senate committees to act on bills that had already passed the opposite chamber.
The bill proposed moving primitive weapons hunting to Nov. 1; adding more gun hunting, extending it through Jan. 31; and removing up to three weeks of exclusivity previously enjoyed by bow hunters.

The Senate struck out on this non vote. All the hunters I talked with were for the change. What’s up with this no vote business?
