MSU to unveil joint projects with city, county

STARKVILLE — As an outgrowth of introductory meetings held last year, Mississippi State University (MSU) president Mark E. Keenum will join March 24 with Starkville and Oktibbeha County leaders to announce the first of several proposed joint projects. The program will begin at 10 a.m. at the university’s Raspet Flight Research Laboratory Annex.

Keenum and other MSU representatives will share the podium with Starkville Mayor Parker Wiseman and other city officials as well as members of the Oktibbeha County Board of Supervisors. Also on hand will be the Greater Starkville Development Partnership, represented by director Jon Maynard and Amy Tuck, who is both GSDP president and special assistant to Keenum.

The effort is the result of an agreement to develop a collaborative strategic plan that resulted from a series of roundtable meetings hosted by the city and county. The focus: initiatives that would benefit the community, university and region.

The March 24 announcement will provide details of proposals for two federally funded projects to upgrade infrastructure and equipment supporting the airport facility as well as boost opportunities for future economic development connected to MSU aerospace research.
