Saints suing former teammate over investment
NEW ORLEANS — Former New Orleans Saints player Charles Grant and current player Jeremy Shockey have filed suit against ex-teammate Kevin Houser over hundreds of thousands of dollars they said they paid for state movie tax credits that never materialized.
State officials have said the credits were never applied for by the CEO of the defunct Louisiana Film Studios LLC. Houser, a licensed securities broker, previously said he told some Saints teammates about the tax credits.
In a lawsuit filed last Friday in federal court, Grant and Shockey said they lost a combined $510,000.
Houser’s attorney, Jimmy Castex, said he stands by earlier statements that Houser is a victim. Houser and his wife, Kristen, bought some of the credits. Her construction company is owed nearly $700,000 by the bankrupt studio.
