OXFORD — U.S. District Judge Michael Mills has put a Union County woman’s lawsuit against Toyota on hold until questions are answered about where such lawsuits will finally be heard.
Attorneys for Belva Simmons and Toyota Motor Sales USA Inc. had asked for the decision.
The venue issue is being considered by a national judicial panel, which will decide how scores of similar legal actions will be handled and in what court jurisdiction.
Simmons sued Toyota in February for problems she said she experienced with her 2007 Camry, claiming that the carmaker trivialized and dismissed owner complaints, especially about sudden unexplained acceleration.
No trial date was set in the case.
