AG investigating bogus home business

JACKSON — A charge on a stolen credit card led state authorities to a home business scam operating in Jackson.

The scam involved repackaging and shipping merchandise purchased with stolen credit cards. It was uncovered when the owner of a stolen credit card reported the unauthorized charge to the Jackson police.

Attorney General Jim Hood says the investigation is still in the early stages.

Hood says homeowner involved said he was just trying to earn some extra cash and had responded to a job offer by e-mail. The job promised to pay the man to receive, repackage and mail merchandise ordered online.
