HANCOCK COUNTY — Hancock County wants highway officials to modify plans for a Highway 603 bypass access to the commercial corridor in Kiln.
The $35-million project would double as a hurricane evacuation route.
Board of Supervisors president Rocky Pullman says Kiln-area businesses don’t want to be cut off from motorists.
Mississippi Department of Transportation engineers say the project is currently in the environmental stage and a lot can change before work begins.
MDOT has presented supervisors with five potential routes and asked for input.
The environmental phase of the project may take from 18 months to two years.
