Ex-court clerk sentenced for stealing

SOUTHAVEN — A former Southaven court clerk was sentenced to 2 1/2 years in prison and 12 1/2 years probation for embezzling thousands of dollars in court fines from the city court department.

DeSoto County Circuit Judge Bobby Chamberlin sentenced Terry Swatsenberg of Southaven yesterday. The 46-year-old Swatsenberg also will have to repay the city $47,000.

Swatsenberg pleaded guilty to one count of embezzlement in January.
