Mayor to stand trial, will seek reelection

WAVELAND — Waveland Mayor Tommy Longo will be tried June 21 on charges he used a government-issued credit card to buy gasoline for his personal car.

In Hancock County Circuit Court April 15, Longo waived his right to arraignment after which the trial date was set.

Longo, a 51-year-old Democrat in his third term, is accused of using a Fuelman credit card to purchase $1,116 in gasoline for his private vehicle between September 2008 and August 2009.

The State Auditor’s Office bought the charges.

Still, Longo says he plans to run for reelection this year.
