Oyster Bay Casino receives site approval

D’IBERVILLE — The Mississippi Gaming Commission today approved the site for the proposed Oyster Bay casino project in the City of D’Iberville.

Developers say the $150-million project could be built and ready for business in two years. It will recreate an 1850s fishing village with oyster schooners and shrimp boats and will include restaurants, shops and an artists’ village.

The 24-acre site is near the Harrison-Jackson County line on Racetrack Road. The development initially will employ 2,000 people.

Developers anticipate the casino will generate more than $8 million in revenue for state and local governments. They say the casino portion of the resort will include 1,000 slot machines and 24 table games.
