Donations sought for storm-ravaged cattlemen

ACROSS MISSISSIPPI — Mississippi Commissioner of Agriculture Lester Spell and Sammy Blossom of the Mississippi Cattlemen’s Association are asking the public for donations in the form of fencing supplies to assist Mississippi cattlemen who received significant damage due to the recent storms that stretched across the state.

Damages from the April 24 tornado to several Mississippi counties have left many livestock producers with significant damage to fences, gates and other enclosures for livestock. Fencing supplies and any monetary donations would be a tremendous help in helping affected farms recover and move forward during this difficult time.

Fencing supplies can be coordinated for drop off at the Mississippi State Fairgrounds by calling (601) 359- 1158, or coordinated directly through the Mississippi Cattlemen’s Association by calling (601) 354-8951.

Monetary contributions for cattlemen affected by the recent weather can be made to the Mississippi Cattlemen’s Foundation, 680 Monroe St., Jackson, MS 39202. The foundation is a 501(c)3 organization.
