The U.S. Supreme Court has been asked by Paul Minor to review the judicial corruption case that sent the former lawyer and two judges to prison.
Minor was a prominent tort lawyer before being convicted in 2007 with former Harrison County judges John Whitfield and Wes Teel.
Prosecutors said Minor orchestrated a complicated scheme in which he guaranteed loans for the judges, then used cash and third parties to pay off the loans. They allegedly ruled in his favor in civil cases.
The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals tossed bribery charges in December, but upheld most of the convictions. The court in February refused Minor’s request for rehearing on remaining counts.
