Company making six-digit reimbursement to Medicaid for diapers

MCCOMB — The Office of the Attorney General has received and turned over to the Division of Medicaid a check in the amount of $100,000 following an agreement with a McComb-based business, according to Attorney General Jim Hood.

The payment is a first installment relative to an agreement reached June 9 with Thrift Home Care Inc.

The agreement requires Thrift Home Care, Inc. to repay the Division of Medicaid $217,330 for claims which were not properly reimbursable under Medicaid rules and regulations.

“A review of this case showed that the company used the wrong billing code for disposable diapers and billed Medicaid for the cost of adult diapers instead of the child sized diapers, which were actually used,” said Hood.

The improper billing was done between Jan. 1, 2002 and Dec. 31, 2009.

In addition to the $217,330 repayment, Thrift Home Care will pay $100,000 for penalties and investigative costs.
