STONEVILLE — U.S. Rep. Bennie Thompson says federal stimulus money will pay for renovations at the Jamie Whitten Delta States Research Center in Stoneville.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture awarded a $26.2-million contract to an Alabama-based company, Hoar Construction, LLC.
Thompson says the research center will undergo repairs to its mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, among other things.
Scientists at the center work to solve agricultural problems for the Midsouth region of the United States. They work on pest control for crops, production systems, equipment development and other areas.
