Alcorn adds degrees on Natchez campus
NATCHEZ — Alcorn State University has added elementary education bachelor’s and master’s degree programs at its Natchez campus.
Ruth Nichols, ASU’s vice president for branch campuses, tells The Natchez Democrat that the bachelor’s program is designed for students who have completed two years of college or earned an associates degree.
The master’s program is designed for licensed teachers looking to advance their degree. Nichols says night classes will accommodate teaching schedules.
In the past, students could take elementary education classes but not complete degrees at the Natchez campus.
Nichols says ASU added the programs at the urging of local school systems, teachers and community members.
