City adopts new fuel card policy

WAVELAND — The Waveland Board of Aldermen has adopted a policy that prohibits the use of city-issued Fuelman card in an employee’s personal vehicle.

The change came in the wake of Mayor Tommy Longo’s acquittal for embezzlement last month. Longo had claimed the city had no record of any policy saying employees could not use their Fuelman cards in personal vehicles while doing city business.

The Sea Coast Echo reports that the new policy says a city employee who uses his personal vehicle for city business can be reimbursed for travel by turning in an expense report with receipts.

Additionally, the policy says the Fuelman card can only be used for the vehicle to which it is assigned.
