Lewis F. Mallory Jr., chairman and chief executive officer of Cadence Bank, was recently presented an award by the Federal Reserve Bank (FRB) of St. Louis in recognition of his many years of volunteer service. Martha L. Perine Beard, senior branch executive of FRB’s Memphis Branch, presented the award June 4 in Starkville.
According to Beard, Mallory has the distinction of having the most years of volunteer service to the organization.
Mallory served as a member of the board of directors of the FRB’s Memphis Branch from 1992-1997. He was a member of the board of directors of the St. Louis Bank for six years beginning in 2002. From Jan. 2008 until April 2010, he served as a member of the Federal Advisory Council for the Federal Reserve System.
Beard said that during the 14 years that Mallory has been a part of the FRB , they have benefited from his valuable insight on a several topics including the selection of two directors for the FRB’s Memphis Branch, naming presidents for the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis (Tom Melzer, Bill Poole and Jim Bullard) and appointing two Federal Reserve chairmen (Alan Greenspan and Ben Bernanke).
