MDOT executive director’s court date set
BILOXI — State transportation official Butch Brown will be in municipal court in Biloxi Sept. 13 to face a charge of public intoxication.
A separate court of disorderly conduct was dropped at the request of officials with the Beau Rivage Casino.
The 67-year-old Brown, executive director of the Mississippi Department of Transportation, was arrested early Friday morning at the casino.
Biloxi police records say Brown was “intoxicated and unconscious” at a slot machine. Casino security placed Brown under citizen’s arrest until police arrived.
Brown was booked into the Harrison County jail, where he later posted a $480 bond.
Brown has said the incident was a misunderstanding and he was neither drunk nor disorderly.
