MGCCC sees summer enrollment soar
PERKINSTON — Summer enrollment at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (MGCCC) increased 30 percent over summer semester 2009.
MGCCC reports 4,324 students enrolled college-wide, breaking the pre-Katrina record of 3,844 set during the summer semester of 2005.
Gulf Coast locations in George, Harrison, Jackson and Stone counties all experienced enrollment increases, with the highest growth at the Perkinston Campus (109 percent increase from last summer); West Harrison County Center (89 percent increase) and George County Center (73 percent increase).
MGCCC’s online classes, or eLearning, have increased by almost 900 students since summer semester 2005, with 1,914 students enrolled this summer.
