Williams Partners gets nod from FERC

PASCAGOULA — Williams Partners, LP, said Wednesday the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission approved plans for a $59-million project that will connect existing natural gas pipelines at a new Mississippi import terminal.

The project will connect Transco and Florida Gas Transmission pipeline systems with a Gulf LNG Clean Energy import terminal being built near Pascagoula. The project will consist of about 15 miles of pipe located in parts of Mobile County, Ala., and Jackson County.

Construction on the pipeline extension is expected to start next April. The import terminal is scheduled to start operations in the fall of 2011.

Williams Partners operates the 10,000-mile Transco pipeline system.
