RAYMOND — Hinds Community College officials say a record enrollment has fueled the need for more adjunct instructors.
Adjuncts are part-time employees who meet qualifications to teach on the college level.
A week before classes start on Aug. 16, Hinds Community College’s enrollment is up 13.2 percent over this time last year. The school broke the 12,000-credit student marker for the first time in 2009.
Enrollment Services dean Jay Allen says in a news release that there’s also been an increase in online class enrollment.
Officials say there’s a special need for history and English adjunct instructors.
