Delta city's budget contains no tax increases

GREENWOOD — Greenwood City Clerk Nick Joseph says there’s good news in the city’s proposed 2011 general fund budget. There will be no tax increases.

Joseph tells The Greenwood Commonwealth it’s a balanced budget without using reserves.

He said few cities the size of Greenwood are able to say that in the face of tough economic times.

He said the entire $10.678 million budget is just $6,000 more than the 2010.

Under state law, the city’s budget must be approved by Sept. 15.

Joseph said he hopes to have the council vote to adopt the budget at the council’s regular meeting on Sept. 7.
