IHL sets timeline for presidential searches

AROUND MISSISSIPPI — State officials have set timelines for the presidential searches at three state universities.

Alcorn State and Jackson State universities should have a preferred candidate later this year, according to a news release by the state College Board. Mississippi University for Women’s search will commence in early 2011.

Alcorn will hold a session with constituent groups on Aug. 31 and Jackson State’s will be Sept. 2.

Applicants for the presidencies of Alcorn State and Jackson State may apply until Sept. 15. The search committee will receive a list of five candidates and the committee will then decide who to interview.

Officials say finalists for the Alcorn and JSU jobs should be interviewed later this fall followed by campus visits by the preferred candidates.
