Reeves’ nomination headed to full Senate
JACKSON — The nomination of Carlton Reeves of Jackson to be a U.S. District Court judge for the Southern District of Mississippi has cleared the Senate Judiciary Committee, which approved him for consideration by the full Senate.
The Judiciary Committee approved his nomination Aug. 5 on a voice vote. At his confirmation hearing in July, U.S. Senators Thad Cochran and Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) introduced Reeves and recommended his confirmation by the Senate.
Reeves is a cofounder and partner in the law firm of Pigott Reeves Johnson, P.A., in Jackson. He earned his undergraduate degree from Jackson State University and his law degree from the University of Virginia. He has served as a clerk and staff attorney for the Mississippi Supreme Court, and was the chief of the Civil Division in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Mississippi.
