COLUMBUS — Southwest Mississippi Community College (SMCC) has signed an agreement to partner with V3 College, Mississippi University for Women’s (MUW’s) new online college.
As part of the agreement, SMCC and V3 will work together to educate students. V3 offers degree completion programs to community college students who have an associate’s degree in applied sciences. V3 College provides students a path to finish their bachelor’s degree in as little as 18 months.
“The partnership between SMCC and V3 College offers a seamless transition of their education into a bachelor’s degree,” said Dr. Bill Mayfield, director of V3 College. “It’s a great recruitment tool – students can stay in their home communities and finish their
bachelor’s degree on their own schedules.”
Dr. Oliver Young, president of SMCC, said, “A lot of people today, especially the non-traditional students who are older and have families and jobs, are not able to pick up and move to the University for a few years to get a four-year degree. It should be a great opportunity for a lot of our students and those who wish to work toward a four-year degree.”
