Contractor’s wire fraud trial rescheduled
GULFPORT — The federal trial of a man convicted of home-repair fraud in state court has been rescheduled for Dec. 1 in Gulfport.
The Sun Herald reports that Ricky Douglas Deveny had been scheduled for trial Sept. 11. U.S. District Judge Sul Ozerden rescheduled the trial this week.
Federal prosecutors say Deveny allegedly enticed others to invest in his company, Sandstone Construction Inc., by creating false and misleading real estate contracts. He also is accused of collecting money for home construction or repair work that was not completed.
Deveny was arrested on state charges of home repair fraud in Nov. 2006. He was sentenced to four years in prison on a guilty plea to four counts.
