HUD awards $5M-plus in grants to two cities

MOSS POINT and JACKSON — U.S. Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan announced that Jackson and Moss Point will receive more than $5 million to support community development and produce more affordable housing. HUD’s annual funding will also help find homes for individuals and families living on the streets and provide permanent housing for individuals living HIV/AIDS.

The City of Jackson is to receive a total of approximately $5.09 million. The award includes Community Development Block Grant funds, HOME Investment Partnerships funding, an Emergency Shelter Grant and Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS funds.

HUD has awarded the City of Moss Point $186,137 in Community Development Block Grant funds.
