LAKE — Peco Foods will build a new feed mill in Lake closing down its similar operation in Sebastopol.
Peco CEO Mark A. Hickman says the new, $25-million mill is expected to begin operations in 2012.
Hickman says the mill will initially produce 13,000 tons of finished feed per week. When fully completed, the mill will produce more than 17,000 tons per week.
Lake Mayor Larry Townsend tells the Scott County Times that the Peco project was helped by a $2.6-million state grant to improve infrastructure to nearby Interstate 20.
Peco Foods operates poultry processing plants, hatcheries and feed mills in Mississippi and Alabama. The company is headquartered in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
